If you're looking for a "sweet spot" to take your little ones, look no further! Fiona’s Playdate Cafe in Clayton Heights, is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy a hot drink, while your child discovers some new toys and friends. It’s a great location to meet new people or meet up for a playdate. I love that Cafés like this, are popping up in the community. It’s so nice to have a safe space, to take our kids and be able to relax for a bit to enjoy a visit. It’s the best on rainy days or when my house is a mess, I don’t feel like hosting and we need to get out and socialize. Fiona's Playdate Cafe has a really friendly, relaxed environment to hang out in and spend time with your child. .
What really sets Fiona's Playdate Cafe apart, is this hardworking woman. Owner, Jane McBride cares so much about this place and genuinely wants to make sure that her customers are happy and leave feeling relaxed. She is a wife, to her supportive husband and a busy, Boss Mama with two children. She loves to be at Fiona's, making connections, chatting and making sure that all the Mamas and their babes are always satisfied! Janes' heart and soul are dedicated to Fiona's and it shows! The best feedback that she has received is that she makes the café better with each visit. For some people in the community, it has become like a second home. Jane's favourite part is getting to know her customers, watching their little ones grow and becoming friends or even more, like family.
You can see Jane at Fiona’s almost every day, greeting everyone with her bright smile and serving up all kinds of hot drinks. Fiona's Playdate Café offers several food options, including their delicious grilled panini’s, wraps, soups and salads. The coconut milk, vanilla latte is SO tasty! Jane is a proud supporter of other local entrepreneurs and carries several local brands, that are for sale in the cafe. I love that local Moms with businesses, have a place to bring their kids and chill out as well as showcase the products they make, at the same time. They have some great items for toddlers and Moms alike.
The cute teething necklaces and toys pictured above, are from Gentle Gems a Boss Mom who just celebrated her babies first birthday party at Fiona’s. The Café offers a wide variety of nutritious snacks and treats. I really like that they serve Dairy Free, Gluten Free and Vegan options. They also have a nice selection of herbal teas. My personal favourite! Can you ever really have too much hot tea, when you live in Raincouver? I don't think so. Ethan really likes the fruit and vegetable squoosh snacks from Baby Gourmet organic purées, proudly made in Canada.
There have been a few days when I’ve needed to return emails or work online and the wifi has come in handy. I can bring my computer and have a nice lunch while I’m at it. The turkey and pesto panini is so good! My youngest son is three and they have some great toys for his age range. He’s always excited to go there and they have the perfect toys for babies and preschoolers. Everything is really safe at the café, so I can sit back and not have to keep jumping up every two minutes to make sure my son is alright. It's a great place for my child to practice sharing too! Ethan is always happy and well occupied while we're there. Fiona's is clean and makes sure the toys and environment meet as many developmental needs as possible.
I love supporting places like this and the positive impact it has in our community. We always want to support small shops when possible, so Ethan and I are wearing a few local brands. Most days I rock a messy bun so, I had to get this "Messy Bun & Getting Stuff Done" #MOMLIFE shirt from My Cheeky Baby We have a few of their shirts and love them all! The perfect thing for my bun, is my first ever scrunchie from Bun Head Super cute scrunchies, handmade in Vancouver! Ethan is wearing a sweater and jeans from a local kids boutique called Little Nest + Co. You definately want to check that store out! Ethan's "more snacks. less naps." tee is from a local mompreneur Lucky Bum Clothing. We had the pleasure of meeting up with Jana, the talented photographer behind Wink Photography lives in the neighbourhood and has visited the café with her kids, when they were younger. Jana, of Wink Photography is very relatable and comfortable to take photos with. We had a nice visit over coffee and there ended up being SO many good photos to choose from! Jana definitely did a great job capturing the fun and relaxed vibe. Click on the photos below, to see some of my favourites from our playdate at Fiona's Café.
